Calculate your life path number
Your life path number is the most important number in numerology. It is derived from your date of birth and reveals your core purpose.
About these calculations
All five calculations follow the Pythagorean system by default. Name-based readings (Destiny, Soul Urge) also support the Chaldean letter-value table — use the system toggle to switch. Life Path and Personal Year use birth date only, so the system toggle does not apply to those tabs. Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are preserved throughout unless the final step requires further reduction. Karmic debt numbers (13, 14, 16, 19) are flagged when they appear as unreduced sub-totals. For a full explanation of each method, see our methodology page.
Frequently asked questions
- How is a Life Path number calculated?
- Your Life Path number is derived from your birth date using the 3-cycle Pythagorean method: reduce the month, day, and year separately to a single digit or master number (11, 22, 33), then add those three values and reduce again. For example, March 14 1990 gives 3 + 5 + 1 = 9.
- What is a Destiny number and how does it differ from a Life Path number?
- Your Destiny number (also called Expression number) comes from reducing the full numerical value of all the letters in your full birth name. While your Life Path describes your journey through life, the Destiny number describes your inherent abilities and the role you are meant to fulfil.
- What is a Soul Urge number?
- The Soul Urge (or Heart's Desire) number is calculated from only the vowels in your full birth name. It represents your inner motivations, deepest desires, and what you value at your core — the private self beneath the personality others see.
- What is Address Numerology and how is it calculated?
- Address Numerology reduces the numeric portion of your street address (digits only) to a single digit or master number. The resulting number describes the energetic character of the space — a 1-address favours independence and new beginnings, while a 6-address supports family and nurturing.
