About Numology

Why we built this

Most numerology websites give you a number without explaining how they got there. Worse, many use different calculation methods without disclosing which one — so you get different results on different sites with no way to know which is right.

Numology was built to fix that. Every calculator on this site shows you the full step-by-step reduction chain, documents the system it uses (Pythagorean or Chaldean), and explains why intermediate values like master numbers and karmic debt numbers matter. You can verify every result yourself.

We also built Numology because the most popular numerology calculator sites haven't been updated in years. The calculation logic is the same — it's thousands of years old — but the user experience doesn't have to be stuck in 2005. We wanted calculators that work beautifully on your phone, remember your profile across sessions, and link you directly to the meaning of each number you discover.

Our approach to numerology

Numerology is a rich interpretive tradition, not a predictive science. We approach it as a tool for self-reflection — a structured way to look at the patterns in your name and birthdate that many people find meaningful and illuminating.

We don't claim numerology can tell you your future or make decisions for you. What we believe is that exploring your numbers can surface patterns worth reflecting on, and that a well-built calculator makes that exploration more accessible and accurate.

What we cover

Numology provides free calculators and detailed guides for:

• Life Path Number — derived from your birth date; your core numerological number
• Destiny Number — derived from all letters in your full birth name
• Soul Urge Number — derived from the vowels in your name; reflects inner motivation
• Personality Number — derived from consonants; reflects outward expression
• Personal Year, Month, and Day — current cycle numbers based on birth date and calendar year
• Compatibility — comparing two people's life path numbers
• Karmic Debt and Lessons — deeper patterns in your numerology profile

All calculators support both the Pythagorean and Chaldean systems for name-based numbers. You can switch between systems with a single toggle to see how the two traditions differ.

Transparency and accuracy

Every calculation method we use is documented on the methodology page, including references to the primary numerology texts we consulted. The calculation logic is tested against known results using automated tests, so you can trust that the numbers are correct.

If you find a discrepancy between our results and a source you trust, we want to hear about it. Different systems make different choices about edge cases (how to treat Y, when to preserve master numbers, etc.) and we are committed to being transparent about the choices we made.

Privacy and your data

When you use a Numology calculator, your birth date and name are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers. If you choose to save your profile for future visits, it stays in your browser's local storage — only you have access to it.
